10 Amazing Online Tools You’ve Never Heard Of

I spent 12 years attending hundreds (maybe thousands!) of events around the US with my live event video production company, and I’ve come across a lot of useful event-related online tools. But, in all those years, I’ve never put those recommendations together in one place. Until now. You’ve undoubtedly heard of popular tools like Dropbox for file storage or Basecamp for project management and collaboration, but beyond the well-known services there are hundreds of other online tools that help at various stages of the event process.
Whether you’re planning a sporting event, fundraiser, reunion, wedding, networking meet-up or any other type of event, here are 10 web services that you may not have heard of before!

  1. Splash – The easiest way to make an event page, sell tickets, and collect RSVPs. Splash lets you incorporate your own images and design style to make the page feel like your own, and their simple editor makes it fast and fun.
  2. Strikingly – Need a full website? Strikingly can have you up and running in minutes, with more advanced functionality like contact forms, photo galleries, and embedded videos.
  3. Livestream – Don’t limit your audience. Live stream video of your event to the world using a camera or even a mobile device. Their services range from ad-supported free plans to a premium package that you can monetize.
  4. Poll Everywhere – Let your audience engage with you in real-time via text message for a variety of uses. If you’ve ever wished you had the “Ask the Audience” feature from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire… this is it.
  5. Zkipster– A check-in solution that collects headshots, prints badges, and lets you impress guests with a fancy iPad check-in experience.
  6. Picatic – An event marketing page and ticketing service (similar to Splash), but this service uses a PWYW (pay what you want) approach that events on a tight budget will appreciate.
  7. Chatroll – Live chat platform for increasing participation with online events. Chatroll lets online viewers discuss the event and engage with you in real-time.
  8. Buffer – If you have an audience, you likely have things you want to share with them! If you’re not connected 24/7, Buffer lets you promote your event on social media with pre-scheduled posts.
  9. ProductionHUB – Hire video production crews or technicians for your event. ProductionHub is like a Yellow Pages for thousands of video specialists, making the selection process easy.
  10. TaskRabbit – Find on-demand help for anything from setup to event day errands. Taskers are often available within the hour, and available in most markets around the US.
